Peer Mentorship Applications are now Open

In 2023, the Creative Spaces Collective will be starting the inaugural class of peer mentors. Apply with the form here - https://www.creativespacescollective.com/peer-mentorship-program.

A local artist will be paired with an artist outside of the community with the goal that both of them will learn from each other over the course of four months via Zoom calls and other forms of communication. Artists will be expected to meet together a minimum of three times. The artists will work both together and independently to create an artwork for Indiana County, which will be unveiled and gifted to the community at the end of their mentorship program. The first round of artists will be announced in May 2023. Rolling admissions will continue to be accepted through 2023 as funding becomes available for the second and third round of artist pairings.

A version of the artwork (like a print, digital image of the artwork, the artwork itself, a recording, etc.) must be available for the community’s long term engagement. For example, if the artwork is a poem, the community should be allowed to have access to the poem in full at no cost. If the artwork is a painting, the artists could decide that a digital image of the painting should be made available to the community for free. Perhaps the painting is made into 100 cards that are given to the community for free. Creating something that has longevity for the public will be something that the artists collaborate on together in their sessions and will be tailored to what they believe is the best fit for the community and the artwork. We are not asking for the final work to be donated, rather that a version of it is available for the community’s benefit.

Compensation is $250 for each artist’s stipend and $250 in reimbursable materials for each as well.

Note that reimbursement generally takes six months. For questions, email creativespacescollective.ic@gmail.com. Expect a decision by June 1st, 2023.
