Spruce Arts Residencies to Resume this Summer

In 2019, Spruce Arts hosted dozens of artists in Indiana, Pennyslvania, sharing the creative culture of this community with artists from around the world. In 2020, Spruce Arts paused most in-person residencies and did more online programs. Spruce Arts hosted muralists in 2020, 2021, and 2022. Youth Mural Camp planned for 2023

The 2023 Youth Mural Camp plans are underway! Artist and educator Jess Green will be facilitating this year’s mural camp, designed to inspire youth to become involved in the community and delight in their shared creativity. The camp is free to selected youth, who can apply via this form. Students must submit by April 15th, 2023 and they will be notified by April 30th, 2023 of their selection.

Peer Mentorship Applications are now Open

A local artist will be paired with an artist outside of the community with the goal that both of them will learn from each other over the course of four months via Zoom calls and other forms of communication. Artists will be expected to meet together a minimum of three times. The artists will work both together and independently to create an artwork for Indiana County, which will be unveiled and gifted to the community at the end of their mentorship program. The first round of artists will be announced in May 2023.

Lighting Installed over the 2021 Youth Mural

Swing by to see the Luna moth mural at night! The Artists Hand Gallery has installed bistro lighting that is strung across the parking lot, lighting up the beautiful mural that was created in 2021 by the Youth Mural camp participants. Led by Sarah Rutherford and Jess Green, this mural camp brought students together to learn a variety of mural techniques, including brushwork and spray painting.
