Dripped on the Road, a group of travel artists who painted murals in Indiana last year, will be coming to Blairsville this fall to create murals for local buildings, according to Blairsville officials.

City councilman David Janusek said the artist will be in Blairsville from October 5th to 18th, and this week he conducted a preliminary survey of the ideal building for exhibiting art.

According to Janusek, all the buildings are privately owned.

The group requested that 10 x 10 space be used to store paint in the autonomous region building, and that bucket trucks be used as needed.

Janusek also said the artist encouraged River Valley school district staff to paint murals within the school.

Janusek toured the Blair’s Building area with the group, and members took pictures of the building suitable for mural painting.

In the meantime, the group will endeavor to obtain permission from the real estate owner who wishes to participate.

Janusek said the murals are good for Blairsville.

“It facilitates commerce,” he said. “It’s really great.”

Dripped on the Road came to India through the Spruce Arts Residency in October 2020 and painted 14 murals in two weeks. Janusek said the group could paint 20 murals in Blairsville.

We also planted 100 trees in Indiana for the sake of the environment.

In another business on Tuesday, the council heard reports from new police chief Louis Sacco, who was attending his first council meeting after starting work earlier this month.

“Things are going well,” Sacco said.

He said the case seems to be slowing down after many fraudulent allegations last month.

He also discussed the opportunity for a grant from the Justice Department to pay 50 percent of the cost of a police station body cam.

The department requires 10 cameras and chargers for a total of $ 5,545, with the autonomous region paying $ 2,772.50.

The Board will consider the proposal before the August 31 deadline.

Sacco also expects more attendance from Saltsburg Middle and High School students scheduled to attend Blair’s Building campus this year, so the River Valley School District will ask two officers to play a football game this fall. He said he was.

Council Chairman John Bertolino said the borough usually dispatches one officer, but a second officer on duty can also go to the scene unless a phone call is required. ..
